Background: Savanna is a distillery located on the island of Reunion. Thunderstruck is from the “Grand Arome” line and promises esters and a hefty age statement. So let’s see if it lives up to it.

Nose – Charred caramelized banana, funky, menthol tobacco, bengay, bright cherry, stale kettle corn. The alcohol singed my nose hairs
Taste – Very aggressive hit of the tongue with flavor, plastic bandaids, menthol, heavy caramel, artificial sweetener, rotten pineapple
Finish – Sour, tobacco, menthol, rotten funk, very hot
Score: 4
Would I buy a bottle? No
Thoughts: Man, I was so excited to try this one, but it just wasn’t for me. The menthol and artificial sweetener were so dominant and the heat felt unbalanced. I revisited this after a few weeks and while it wasn’t as bad as before, it just wasn’t anything special or something I’d go out of my way for.
