Description: Through The Grapevine: Tessendier Lot 95
Spirit: Cognac
Background: Wrapping up this short series is the Tessendier produced cognac bottled by La Maison du Whisky. I was a huge fan of the single barrel selected by a panel including t8ke, RareBird and Bourbonr, so let’s see how the standard release stacks up.
Distillery – Tessendier
Bottler – La Maison Du Whisky
Brand – Through The Grapevine
Selection – N/A
ABV – 55%
Age – NAS
Nose – A bit more on the baked goods side of things with apple danish, fresh espresso, buttered toast, cinnamon roll, a touch of grape pops in but mostly very rich and balanced sweetness and oak
Taste – Rich and chocolatey, toasted butter pastry, dark grape jelly, thick syrupy sweetness to it
Finish – Still roasty goodness, chocolate croissant, oak is strong and warm but not super bitter or dry
Score: 7
Would I buy a bottle? Probably. Having a bottle of this would be nice.
Thoughts: Not quite on the single barrel selection level, but damn is this nice. I love those dark, rich, buttery notes and they are all over this. Yet, it still has that fruit characteristic keeping it balanced. Cost is high at $200+, but this is a bottle you are never going to be disappointed to drink from.
