Review #12 – TX Blended Whiskey

Review #12 – TX Blended Whiskey

Review #: 12
Description: TX Blended Whiskey
Spirit: American Whiskey

Background: TX Blended Whiskey comes from Firestone & Robertson Distilling in Texas. The bottle boasts using leather from cowboy boots for the topper, canvas to represent covered wagons, a clover design on the bottom to represent stitches on boots, and claiming the silver band includes silver from spurs and belt buckles. Always a good sign when the product page focuses on the bottle and uses a total of 13 words to describe the actual whiskey. This includes the finish being “Long, smooth, no burn.” Well, let’s see…

Distillery – Firestone & Robertson Distilling Co.

Bottler – Firestone & Robertson Distilling Co.

Brand – TX

Selection – N/A

ABV – 41%

Age – NAS

Nose –  Vanilla, almost nothing else
Taste – Vanilla, butterscotch, some oak
Finish –  Short, hot, harsh.  One dimensional, more burn than expected for 82 pf

Score: 3
Would I buy a bottle? No

Thoughts: I ot this a few years ago in Texas and have seen in groups online that this stuff is pretty well loved.  It definitely is a vanilla bomb.  Like, maybe use this instead of vanilla extract.  Hell, it would be cheaper.  But I found the finish to be hot and young.  Maybe since I got this bottle about 3 years ago, they’ve gotten a bit better?  But for now, I’ll hold off on replacing when I finish.
